La Homework
Every week, we have spelling words that correspond to a spelling pattern. This week is the final e pattern (date, lake). Your student will bring their packet home on Tuesday, they are to complete one page a day, and return it Friday.
They should also be reading for at least 20 minutes a day. I have sent home a reading log where they can track time, book and what they liked/disliked/learned about their reading. That should also be returned on Friday. Please let me know if you student needs a book to read at home.

Unit 2:
We are now learning about immigration and why people move to the United States, what voting is and what it does, and other responsibilities citizens have. Through information texts, students will learn about this social studies content while practicing vocabulary and reading strategies. The comprehension strategies students are learning this unit include predicting, rereading, and asking and answering questions. Please help your student practice as they are reading every day.
Unit 1:
In our first unit, we are learning about different cultures and traditions. This week we are bringing it closer to home, and talking about different cultures within our community, and how that contributes to our community.
We will be reading 2 narrative stories and 1 informational stories to write about, compare and contrast, and create graphic organizers. Please help your student practice writing a little bit everyday. We are building our writing stamina and getting better everyday!
