Chapter 3:
We are starting our big math focus, Multiplication, this week! Students will be taught multiplication through equal groups, arrays (columns and rows), skip counting, and memorization.
Please make sure students are completing math pages at home if they did not get it done at school. Other ways students can practice are the APTT "Multiplication Madness" game with cards, Rolling 2 dice and multiplying the 2 numbers, making their own flashcards, and singing our skip counting songs.

Chapter 2:
Chapter 1:
In chapter one, students are presented with different adding and subtracting strategies. Last week, we worked on adding numbers jumping by tens and ones on a number line, finding friendly numbers (7+3=10), breaking apart numbers and regrouping.
This week, we will be doing subtraction strategies including estimating and finding compatible numbers, jumping by tens and ones on a number line, and subtracting by place value.
In class we do one page of practice work after whole group instruction. If students do not get that page done in class, it should be completed at home, and then returned to school.
More practice? Students can use dice, dominoes or cards to create 3-digits addition and subtraction problems (2749 +/- 1731) to practice all types of strategies.
